A voice of one calling: “In the wilderness prepare the way for the LORD; make straight in the desert a highway for our God. Every valley shall be raised up, every mountain and hill made low; the rough ground shall become level, the rugged places a plain. And the glory of the LORD will be revealed, and all people will see it together. For the mouth of the LORD has spoken.” –Isaiah 40:3-5, NIV 2010
Well, not if we’re talking about John the Baptist. He was a Nazarene from his birth, separated for God and given to His cause. Full of the Spirit from Martha’s womb, (and technically Jesus’ cousin), John the Baptist’s birth was a miracle from start to finish. Hey, how can someone become mute from doubt and a baby jump for joy if not for God’s cause?
But there was a reason: he only recognized he was a “siervo inútil”, just a vessel for God to carry His decrees. If we look at it this way…That’s our job!
(OOC, these are the moments that I panic a bit. I recognize that this is my job, and writing about it just don’t cut it.)
The same spirit of Elijah is in us, and even if we can’t see it, we hold the key to those days of Elijah. Speak about it, sing about it, more than preach about it, we call and hunger for the return of Christ. Now that we’re in the happiest time of the year, it is more than enjoyable to know that deep within us, there is the chance to grow in faith.
These are the days of Elijah…
