Never take your word of truth from my mouth, for I have put my hope in your laws. –Psalm 119:43, NIV 2011

When Jesus reached the spot, he looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, come down immediately. I must stay at your house today.” –Luke 19:5, NIV 2011, emphasis mine But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!” –Luke 10:40, NIV 2010 But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away. –Isaiah 64:6, KJV 1611 After a few days out of the scene (a weekend-long retiro and not having internet because my sister took it away while she was staying with my grandmother in the hospital), I’m BACK, and AWAKE, and ALIVE! Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. -Ephesians 11 & 12, NIV 2010 My salvation and my honor depend on God ; he is my mighty rock, my refuge. –Psalm 62:7, NIV 2010, emphasis mine This was on my “to-write” list on the back of my mind… *sigh* There is no other thing that defines “senior year” quite better than a good, old-fashioned senior prom (or “class night”). This dance really is the last chance one has to enjoy their new-found adulthood, dance a little bit, laugh out old rivalries, and um…make some babies (hehe!). But I have a dillema: should I go to prom, or not? But Stephen, full of the Holy Spirit, looked up to heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God. “Look,” he said, “I see heaven open and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God.” (…) While they were stoning him, Stephen prayed, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.” -Acts 7:55, 56 & 59, NIV 2010 David said to Gad, “I am in deep distress. Let us fall into the hands of the LORD, for his mercy is great; but do not let me fall into human hands.” –2 Samuel 24:14, NIV 2010 So David conducted a census. Making the census up was not the problem; however, he did disobey the Lord on one…simple…thing: He decided to rely on numbers, if only for a moment, rather than God. Joab was totally uneasy about it (he even asked of his queasiness to David before he did the census), yet David gave it a whirl.
And then came the guilt, the pain, the torture, and the agony of doing something wrong. (Not that it was his first time, though: Remember Bathsheeba?) God forgave his sin, but his punishment was really interesting… God raised up Gad, a prophet of His, to give David three choices:
And you’re alive, right? So God has been merciful to your life. Into His Hands you are, and He will not let you go. |
