Never take your word of truth from my mouth, for I have put my hope in your laws. –Psalm 119:43, NIV 2011
The thing you see beside me is called cingulum, and it was the belt Roman legionaries used for battle. The belts consisted of a leather base with plaques made out of brass or bronce, or even bone and ivory, lavishly decorated with geometrical shapes, occasionally plated in silver.
The lower strips of the cingulum had a decorative kilt in the front part of the belt. They were usually four to eight strips, from 1.6-2.5 cm. wide and 25-30 cm long. Each strip had a pendant on the end, and had up to sixteen metallic discs, usually from brass and each stem could be welded and held to normal rivets.
Now that I’ve spent hefty time discussing the cingulum, let me arrive to a sudden point…
If we don’t have the Truth of God in our lives, how in the world can we receive the Word of God with such conviction and passion? Es más, how in the world can we be ready to fight the good battle of faith if we can’t test the spirits? To have truth in our meaning, actions, and beliefs, we must know what is true and pleasing to God. That way, we will be more efficient to fight against the ataques that we will ever find in our walk.
So let’s put it on!
