Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The LORD, the LORD himself, is my strength and my defense; he has become my salvation. –Isaiah 12:2, NIV 2010
Oddly enough, the six-versed chapter goes sandwiched between what seems to be an endless cycle of wrath-Jesus-glory-wrath prophecies. How can someone sing to God after judgment passed? Much more, how can someone sing to GOD BEFORE judgment is coming soon? (Awkward, huh? But that’s how the God I know works…)
Look at those saints in Revelation: they’re singing, “You are worthy to take the scroll” when God is on His way to open it. Angels fall down and recognize the King of the White Throne. The twenty-four throw down their crowns and sing glory for the Lion of Judah. Even when the Earth is filled with judgement, they fill the censer with the prayers of His people. These spirits fulfill the command Paul said, “Rejoice in the Lord always. I repeat: Rejoice!”.
The same thing happened when Mary stayed with Elizabeth for three months. She got into Zechariah’s home, and not a moment too soon, “Lizzie’s” baby jumped for joy! Elizabeth blessed Mary’s Womb, baby John leaped to it, and Mary glorified God in the beautiful Magnificat.
Why can’t we do the same?
