His mouth is sweetness itself; he is altogether lovely. This is my beloved; this is my friend, daughters of Jerusalem. (Song of Solomon 5:16, NIV 2010)

Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves… -Philippians 2:3, NIV 2010 In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, LORD, make me dwell in safety. –Psalms 4:8, NIV 2010 And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them. -1 John 4:16, NIV 2010 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.” –Joshua 1:9, NIV 2010 Picture it: A new generation of Israelites who were going to enter the Promised Land. Their greatest leader, Moses, has died on the shadow of the city of promise. Joshua, son of Nun (whose name appropriately means “God saves”), is the new leader of the big nation. Young, faithful, of young promise. More than enough, he was never willing to stray away from the hand of God, not even one bit.
From Lebanon, to the Euphrates, to the Mediterranean, that was going to be their land. God already gave it to them –they only had to do some “purging” (that will be another day). Who else would promise them something other people had? From there on, the book is filled with action, blood, and conquest-because God has given them their land even before they didn’t even thought about it. Israel was only minutes from their blessing. God promised that the land was theirs, and that He will never leave from their side. There were some requirements, though:
This goes to you and me, too. God promised you He will never leave you nor forsake you.
He already gave you that ripe grain people are reluctant to find. He already clothed you that power from on high. He already gave you freedom. (Please use it wisely.) He already gave you an awakening. He already gave you a revival. He gave you a CITY of Revival. What are you going to do with it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. But someone will say, “You have faith; I have deeds.” Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds. –James 2:17 & 18, NIV 2010 Then some of the Pharisees and teachers of the law said to him, “Teacher, we want to see a sign from you.” –Matthew 12:38, NIV 2010 On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations. –Revelation 22:2b, NIV 2010 |
