Jesus said, “I tell you the truth, Moses didn’t give you bread from heaven. My Father did. And now he offers you the true bread from heaven. –John 6;32, NLT
There came one time that a group of tens of thousands were in the banks of the sea, searching for bread. They came from faraway places to simply congregate in this place because they were told by whispers that the best bread in the world came from here. They brought their best jams and preserves, the ones they only save for special occasions like weddings, funerals, and the occasional guest from far away. This time, they heard that a man from far away would give them bread––the best bread they had in their lives!
Why was bread from others so important if they could perfectly make their own bread? Perhaps they wanted to guise the competition. Or maybe they wanted to know the secrets of the world’s best bread. Maybe they could not find the bread ingredients without giving up in frustration, for the flour from their region is too thin and the oil of their neighborhood is too runny. This person could help them find the bread they wanted––or maybe, God willing, he would be willing to work with them as an employee forever and ever.
They looked for the bread maker over the mountains and the seas, yet they could not find him. They only saw a young man with olive-skin complexion praying in the mountains. They saw him the other night giving thanks to the bread, but they missed him within the crowd. Some members of the flashing mob wanted to ask him about the bread maker. Perhaps he knew?
