He’s the One you must praise—He’s your God who has done such great and amazing things for you, as you’ve seen with your own eyes. -Deuteronomy 10:21, VOICE
For a stubborn nation like Israel, they had that center right in their faces...but they never did anything about it. They never recognized it as He wanted to be: they never surrender, nor budged, nor fidgeted in delighting on what's left and right, forgetting they had milk and honey while burying themselves on onion soups and day-old, unleavened bread.
But this man I know, He never stopped trying. They gave Him many a headache that was unnecessary, yet He never gave up on them.
It took the death of their captor's firstborns to learn they were finally free.
It took parting a sea to learn God will move everything in the world out of the way, just so the apple of His eye can march on with their heads held up high.
It took clouds and fireballs hanging from their heads to know they'd rather die in heat and cold, if only they returned to work with a barefaced brow.
It took manna and quail from Heaven to find out they craved to eat on poorly-mangled bowls and rotten cutlery.
And then came lack of faith; disobedience; failure and destruction. They lacked responsibility; they lacked commitment. But He never gave up on them. He called their attention with miraculous signs and wonders. He gave them the best of His bounty stamped with His seal of approval.
Now, they were given another chance to have Him in their homes: in doorsteps, living rooms, bathrooms, kitchens, backyards and bathrooms. They will have Him day and night; they will remember Him when they eat; they will remember Him when they speak. Everything will have an order, a beginning and the end. Everything will have a sound that speaks of faith.
There will be a center with the name of the LORD.
