May God give you heaven’s dew and earth’s richness—an abundance of grain and new wine. –Genesis 27:28, NIV
By virtue and convention, I’ve allowed myself to write in a more relaxed, sorta down-to-Earth way than what I’m used to, save for revering grammatical errors and all. There are many reasons, then: One, it’s a holiday, and for a sorta-tense guy like me, I have a right to relax myself! Two, I tend to codify my pains and struggles and gripes and insecurities in big words and bombastic metaphors that are only but a thin veneer of reality…Just like right now. And three, I must look at abundance, and big words won’t cut it. (Only for today. And the next day. And Christmas. And maybe the day after that. Ok?)
Because I’m not quite conformed with what I have.
Read my lines carefully: I said “not quite conformed”, not “not content”.
Because I know that, in God’s hands, I can do more. There is so much to do in this world that He created for us –just for US!- that there is so much to do in so little time! Not that I’m not happy for the things that I have or I don’t yet have or I’ll never have (even puny humans have to recognize God’s will sooner or later!) But there is so much this world has to offer, that we prefer to sit on an invisible bubble and wait for time to pass and moss to grow before actually doing working in true haste! The best is yet to come, I can feel it!
God gave us valleys and mountains. God gave us flatlands and deserts. This is our home, though not for long-she’s starting to groan like a woman in labor. But for the moment, this is the home God gave us, the one we’re supposed to carefully and tenderly nourish and grow on it. Yes, we’re waiting on something better, but let’s not forget to make our lives easier right here on Earth!
Our hands can’t stop working. Our minds can’t stop thinking. Our faith still has to be put in motion if we want to accomplish anything in our lives. There is a lot that God put in our hands, salvation to grow and love to labor. I want this Thanksgiving to be different-heck, Iwill make it different!
I shall not sleep from mental flight, nor shall my sword sleep in my hand, until the Word has been spread throughout this land.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Felíz Día de Acción de Gracias!
