You will drink from the brook, and I have directed the ravens to supply you with food there. –1 Kings 17:4, NIV
Maybe Elijah wouldn’t have a problem with it. Who else would’ve dared to look to the king right in the eye (and her unpleasant wifey, Jezabel) and say, “It’s not gonna rain unless I tell you so”? Who would’ve thought of such a daring statement from an annointed prophet? Who holds the real power?
Rain is something necessary for everyone. Look at Bostwana’s motto, “Pula” , meaning “rain”in Setswana. Look at how many treasure rain in crops around the world! Even look at how much our animals need some rain to fall, what a blessing it is in desert! What happens, then, when the rain stops?
God will send you to a river, God will send you some ravens, God will send you something-anything-to your favor. The ravens will give you cheese in the beak, the brook will supply fresh water for you. Some way or another, God will take care of you.
Maybe I feel a bit dry today, maybe I should take a little trip to drink from the brook…
