For we have not here a lasting city, but we seek one that is to come. –Hebrews 13:14, DRA 1899
But it’s not as simple as we may want it to be.
First of all, we are not just a conundrum made up of simple machines. Of course, we do respond to certain physical aspects of simple machines, but that’s not the point. What I mean is, emotions complicate things into such extravagant levels. Anger, sadness and discouragement mixes in with joy, happiness and wonder, and it makes our souls feel fuzzy and funny.
Regardless, it is in our nature that we still search for that “something” we can’t quite find on Earth. Because we know in our hearts that anything –anything- is better than this world of ours.
But that didn’t stop a King from coming here and changing everything we know about discovery.
Even before we had people like Christopher Columbus or Vasco da Gama, He was there.
Even before we ever thought of dividing and conquering, He already had a plan. It didn’t involve whips and chains to us; it involved whips and chains to himself.
He came here to show us a place that would endure, a place filled with gold and silver of the purest kind. He came to show us the true Kingdom of God.
And this is the God I want to celebrate this Christmas, and every other one.
Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year!
!Feliz Navidad, un Próspero Año Nuevo!
