For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form, and in Christ you have been brought to fullness. —Colossians 2: 9 & 10a, NIV
Because of this, everything in this world is finite, subject to a beginning and an end. After the quest is complete and brought to its natural end, many questions arise: What will happen next? What will fill my void? What will be the next excuse for a frantic chase?
Natural law states that, when something ends, something else begins. But man looks frantic, searching for the vain and illusory, that which only feeds fleshy appetites and bruised egos. There is always a thrill that challenges to destroy our need for fullness. It is always easier to chase after that than to look at the measure of our fullness within. As if we are afraid to confront our deepest fears and witness the abundance God Himself has prepared for us.
In the true Source of fullness, there is no beginning and no end. Its quest is never-ending, and —despite our frail, weak, and fragile bodies— there will never be frantic chases or half-completed estimates. Measurements cease to exist. Purposes are renewed. Needs are transformed. The deepest chasms are filled with the most powerful love that man could find. And, while the chasms, and the defects, and the consequences may often remain in place, His fullness will grant us a new reason to empower our hearts with truth.
