“This is what the LORD Almighty says: ‘In a little while I will once more shake the heavens and the earth, the sea and the dry land. I will shake all nations, and what is desired by all nations will come, and I will fill this house with glory,’ says the LORD Almighty.” –Haggai 2:7 & 8, NIV 2010
If God is so infinite, how come He would be desired by such puny, unholy people? (Sorry for the beatdown.) What’s the thing God has that wants people craving for more of Him? There’s something immense about God’s power that I can’t quite recall…
Temple #2 was never to be as grand as Temple #1, and yet God promised them that He will pour His glory even more than what was poured out in the first one. How amazing is this! Even if this world groans like a woman in childbirth, sooner or later they will be hurt no more. For those who are in pain, they will be in pain no more. And for those who are dirty, they will be dirty no more.
It was love, God’s greatest treasure. God would replace the longing of those material hearts into hearts longing for God. It is the same love that brings an outpouring. It is the same love that redeems the hearts of generations. And it is the same love that makes us long for His return.
Love is desired by all nations…
