Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. –Deuteronomy 6:5, NIV
But do we really love Him? Do we really love Him more than enough to stop sinning? Or stop rejecting His actions in our lives? Or cling to other idols –those that are obvious to us, and those that are not? Do we really love Him with all our hearts to not let anything of our lives try to impose itself on God? Or are the powers of the world made manifest more than the power of God in our lives?
Is our love more than enough to hate this world, or work out our salvations with fear and trembling? Are our hearts heartened to Him, or more than tender to hear Him speak? And why am I making many questions?
More than else, do we view ourselves as worthy of God’s love? There’s a simple answer: No, we aren’t. We are more than guilty of crucifying Him with our sinful passions, our greed, our faithlessness, our rejection, and whatever else is written on that list. But with that tender heart, that pure soul, and that awesome strength, God’s love became the essence of our freedom. And that love is the reason why we are here.
I want to learn to love.
I want to love Him.
And do you love Him?
