No doubt there have to be differences among you to show which of you have God’s approval. –1 Corinthians 11:19, NIV
It is human nature to digress with other humans in opinion; for if every man in the world was same in thought and mind and spirit, there will be no way that he would actually live in peace. Opinions are like money-they make the world go round. A good opinion can convince us, make us, mold us, break us… but a bad opinion will only get us a few broken hearts!
And it seems that we have yet to understand the vicious power of personal opinion oh puny humans. However, over the past three years writing and observing this blog, there is one certain truth:
It’s not if, or, what, or how, or when; it’s why you say it. Because when we value what other think way more than what God thinks, we’re getting ourselves into heap loads of (unnecesary) trouble.
This is how self-absorbed spirits (attempt to) destroy the church with hideous heresies.
This is how distortion enters those souls that finds its abode in men that are detrimental to their spiritual health.
And this is the same way man tries to impose his opinions upon the leaders! This is not fair! Not fair!
When we don’t filter opinions by the lens of the Word, the same things that happened in the fleshy world will transpose into the church: hate, envy, arguments, fights, treason, pain, evil, spite, deceit…And I now ask, do you think this is pleasing to the God of hosts?
Brothers, this is not the way God rolls! He will never let anything defile His holy name because of what two or three irresponsible fools think and say are right. Who are we to let that happen in our congregations?
Who are we to let our own minds ruin us?
