The process would be simple: each one of us would have the chance to redo a part of our lives that we’d never had to chance to change. A break-up, a death, a divorce, a major screw-up…Take your pick. But please remember: it’s only one chance, and only…one…chance.
- Maybe you would’ve moved to another house that was more affordable and didn’t have a horrible tick infestation with über-high insurance pensions.
- Maybe you would’ve studied something a bit more practical and compatible than studying a foreign language that barely three people in the world speak it today.
- Maybe you would’ve aborted that nasty addiction that ruined your whole family.
Don’t try to guess! Just…think. All that heartache could’ve been avoided. Our lives would finally mold themselves according to the way we wanted them to be. We could’ve saved a lot of hassle (and a few dollar’s worth of self-esteem) along the way. Take a look at the advantages:
- No more tears.
- No more therapists.
- No more insomnia.
- No more horrific memories.
- No more self-pity.
But there would be no reason to live-literally.
- The infested home had two babies and one grandchild in them.
- The unnecessary degree made you happy.
- The thorn of your addiction helped others who are on the same path.
Resets like this one void God. And God can’t be voided. If He is, then Who do we live for? I’m not saying they could be avoided; but if they are, how will we learn that God is still God?
