They will rebuild the ancient ruins and restore the places long devastated; they will renew the ruined cities that have been devastated for generations. -Isaiah 61:4, NIV
Yet, there was a problem: where in the world will he build his wasteful —erm, I mean, most beautiful masterpiece? He sent a team of interior decorators, artists, travelers and his mother to parade around the world in hopes of finding the perfect place to build his house. However, the options were very limited: Brazil was too hot, Finland too cold, Japan too wacky, and Canada too expensive. As the shortlist kept growing even shorter, his patience kept growing shorter and shorter. Then, in a fit of millionaire eccentricity, he darted out some island in the Pacific...and one phone call from the prime minister later, he was off to build his masterpiece!
Decades passed, and nature took its course: a hurricane chipped some away, then the builders and the robbers, then lowlifes and critters. In such a short time, what became the zaniest waste of private money was reduced to...nothing. And no one pretty much cared about it anymore.
That is, until a young kid had the audacity to do something about that eyesore.
As the gold spat from the ground, came a message, a message written in the kajillionaire's eccentric hand:
“If my palace gets destroyed, use some of my money to build an even greater one...”
And everyone started working on the palace...Once again.
