But I have raised you up for this very purpose, that I might show you my power and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth. -Exodus 9:16, NIV
Some are created to soothe weary souls, and to entertain masses. Others were created to give hope to those who encounter. Even others were created to lead a nation, lead a city, lead a household, too. No task is too menial, too mundane, too stupid, “unqualified” or “overqualified” to not do. But one thing is certain: we were created to serve not ourselves, but others.
Well, then, why are some people overlooked at? Why are others randomly glorified for no reason, as if they deserve to be glorified? Then why are those who have eons of light to offer to the world are shunned and derided, while those who don’t have any ounce of “talent” are self-righteously taught to be better than the rest?
It’s true: “those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, and the parts that we think are less honorable we treat with special honor (1 Corinthians 12:22, 23).” Every gift, every talent, every advantage or disadvantage, condition or impediment, is infused with grace to keep moving forward. NO ONE, NO ONE is worthless in God’s ways!
Yes, even bad things can be used for good, because “in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose (Romans 8:28)”. Even in the flood, even in the pain, even in the plagues, God’s purpose will be done in our lives.
The question is, are we willing to believe it? Even so, are we willing to make it possible?
